I thought ALL tournament fees (including travelling tournaments) were covered in our $850 Club payment....

When we had our parent meeting for the club in December I addressed all the costs involved and what items would be included in your fee payment.  Tournament fees regarding Las Vegas, Reno and any travelling tournament that we do were specifically pointed out as NOT being included in the $850 club cost.  Please keep in mind, these are not SCVA tournaments, they are Invitationals.  You and your child possess an unbelievable deal considering clubs such as Elite (here in Woodland Hills), SMBC, Sunshine, etc. all costs upwards of $5000 plus per year.    Why are we playing in this tournament? This particular tournament is to gain exposure for girls who may not have the opportunity, for whatevever reason, to be scouted by college coaches.  There will be over 300 collegiate coaches in attendance.  It provides a great playing opportunity outside of the SCVA community.  There are teams from all over the US and Canada coming to play in Las Vegas.

How does my child get exposure?

We will be putting together a South Valley Volleyball booklet with all the girls vital and statistical information listed.  (Please see Coach Mike's email)   The booklets will be placed in at the table where all the coaches gather, eat, scout, compare notes, etc.

Do the girls have to stay in the same hotel?

Yes.

Do the parents and families have to stay in the same hotel with the players?

No, absolutely not, only if you want to.  If you have comps or discounts in other hotels or simply like to be in the middle of the gambling action, you are more than welcome to stay where you please.

The Hilton Garden Inn, at $169/night seems expensive......

I spoke to Linda Schwartz (Lauren's mom) this morning re: the hotel at $169/night.  I'm looking into it and trying to see if we can find a cheaper hotel.  When I did the search last week, this was the most inexpensive rate and nicest accomodation I found.  We know how the internet is....I'll see what more I can do.  It's no problem, you'll just all have to jump online and reserve your rooms when I find it.  Not to worry, we have more than a week until Feb. 1 when the hotel will release our block so I will get back to you all within the next day or two.   FYI, I chose this particular hotel, Hilton Garden Inn, due to the proximity to the outlet mall.  It's across the street and figured the girls could spend their down time there or at the pool.  One of my main concern was that we were not located in the middle of the strip where it would be difficult for us to get in and out of during traffic.  I'm sure we have all experienced that LONG driving down the strip can be with traffic.  And lastly, we didn't want there to be too many "distractions"  for the girls at night.

$350 per player seems like a lot of money for one tournament....

Here's the breakdown of what you are paying for:
